The day I was informed that my dad had motor neurone disease (MND) was the worst day of my life. I didn’t know what MND was, so when I was told he had it, I reacted with, ok so what do we do now and how can it be treated, to then be told nothing can be done and he will die soon. My world then seemed to stop, and I was in a daze and trying to understand how this happened. The next 6 month was spent trying to cram in as much as possible with him, before then spending the next 10 months caring for him and nursing him to his death. With this disease the mind stays as strong and receptive as it always has but the muscles shut down and stops working, and you can’t use your limps.

I would love to Hear of a cure, but at the moment so much research is being carried out and without funding and donations this won’t happen. I would also like to raise awareness, so hopefully when diagnosis happens the friends and family know what MND is and don’t have to ask, so what happens now, like I did and think it is just an illness that will pass. 

I am having my hair in the charity colours so hopefully people will ask questions and raise money in the process. I shall keep them in for as long as possible, but might not be till Xmas, depends on the effect it has.
